About Our Site

SailingAndBoating was formed to offer a unique reference point on motor boats, sail boats, canoes, canal boats and everything in between.

Having chartered a course through thousands of years of civilisation, the boat has an important and longstanding role in our culture and heritage. It may have lost its historic status as the number one transport for industry, but boating has taken on a new lease of life as a leisure pursuit.

Whether it's canoeing in the Welsh mountains, sailing in the Mediterranean, narrow boating down the rural English backwaters or Powerboat racing across the Solent, boating has an immense amount to offer all breeds of enthusiast and all levels of ability. However, with such a daunting array of vessels, costs, equipment and skills associated with any boating activity, the leap from dry land can be a difficult one. So, where do you begin?

Our team of boating enthusiasts have devised the SailingAndBoating website to help answer this and many more questions. Bringing together the many streams of the boating world - from a guide to the different boat types, beginner tips and buyer help to practical safety information and environmental advice - this unique UK information resource will encourage and aid those captivated by the idea of life on the water to set sail and navigate their way to through this exciting water world.

Our concern was that there was no single UK resource for interesting features and practical advice on this subject.

Our features and articles are written by experts - who have experience, or a particular interest in this area.

Our Background

SailingAndBoating was founded by John Rowlinson, the founder of PtS.

John, through PtS, is involved in a number of ventures including software and property companies. A percentage of revenue from these activities goes towards funding SailingAndBoating and a number of similar sites.

Our focus is simply on having experts create the highest quality information possible that is widely read.
